Scottish Care Awards 9th October 2020 - Well Done

The Scottish Care Awards were slightly different this year, cancelled in May and then running as a virtual evening on Friday 9th October.

Aspire had nominated numerous people and services for a variety of awards but were so thrilled when the short listed nominations came back as Anne and Tracey. Tracey also nominated Gary (a young person from our East Renfrewshire Service) for the Outstanding Achievement Award, as this young man has achieved so much in the year and half he has been supported by Tracey and her team. When Tracey received the email stating that Gary had not only been nominated, he had actually won the award, she thought it would be even more special for him to not tell him and to watch the virtual awards ceremony with Gary where he would hear for himself.

Fast forward to Friday night……. I am delighted to announce that Anne Hamilton was the winner of the 2020 award for Care Services Co-Ordination/Administrator. Anne joined Aspire as a sessional support worker for a number of years and has always been committed to her role regardless of where she was working from. When we introduced the Glasgow outreach service, Anne was the first staff member to show a keen interest in this area of support. Anne committed to working with 2 individuals who were referred with significant complex needs. Anne’s good values, attitude and caring nature meant she quickly built up a rapport with the supported individuals and the referring social workers. I am delighted for Anne, a very deserving winner.

When Gary was announced as the 2020 winner Outstanding Achievement Award, he was so amazed. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all Aspire to say “well done Gary, you deserve this and so much more. You have worked so hard to get where you are today, and I know you will continue to keep achieving all your dreams and aspirations. Good luck in everything you do.”

Tracey Watt was nominated for the 2020 Carer of the Year Award, Tracey has been the backbone of the excellent achievements and outcomes within the young persons service and the Glasgow Outreach service. It was with regret that Tracey wasn’t announced as a winner but knowing Tracey as well as I do…..Gary winning was her biggest achievement.

Well done again, super proud.
